Gas Appliance Installation
A new gas cooktop, oven, ducted heater, space heater or continuous flow hot water unit is a significant investment, and the quality of the gas appliance installation has a direct effect on how well it performs and how long it lasts. Newton Huang installs gas appliances across Melbourne’s eastern suburbs to manufacturer specifications, with the correct gas supply, ventilation and a compliance certificate supplied on completion.
Gas Appliances We Install
We regularly install freestanding and built-in gas cooktops, gas ovens, gas wall ovens, gas-boosted continuous flow hot water units, gas storage hot water tanks, gas wall furnaces, space heaters, gas log fires, outdoor BBQ points and patio heaters. Whether the appliance is replacing an existing unit or going into a new location, we plan the work up front so the supply, isolation, ventilation and flue requirements are all sorted before the appliance lands on site.

Usually the brass seat under the washer has corroded or scored, so even a brand-new washer won’t seal. We reseat the tap with a reseating tool to give the new washer a clean surface to press against, or convert it to a tap cartridge that doesn’t rely on a seat at all. In older taps where the body itself is worn through, a like-for-like swap is the only real fix.

Most mixer issues are cartridge issues, and a quality replacement cartridge is much cheaper than a brand-new tap. We carry common Methven, Caroma, Dorf and Phoenix cartridges on the van. If the mixer body is corroded or out of production, a swap-out becomes the smarter long-term option — we’ll quote both so you can choose.

If you’ve got matching tapware on a vanity or kitchen, we can usually replace a single tap and match the finish. For mixers, the body is one unit so a replacement covers the whole mixer head. We’ll always check before quoting — sometimes a single-part repair is the smarter move, sometimes a full set swap saves you money down the track.

Low hot flow is usually one of three things: a blocked aerator on the spout, scale build-up inside the cartridge, or a tempering valve at the hot water unit that’s reached end-of-life. We work through them in order — cheapest to most involved — so you only pay to fix what’s actually wrong.

We do our best to match brand, model and finish (chrome, matte black, brushed nickel, brass) so the new tap blends in with the rest. For older or discontinued ranges an exact match isn’t always possible, so we’ll bring photos or model options before installing. Most customers prefer to update the whole set if one tap is going — we’ll quote both ways.

Before the Install
A quick site visit before the install lets us measure available space, check the existing supply size, confirm flue routes, and identify anything that might need to happen before the appliance arrives. For larger appliances such as ducted heaters, we coordinate with the electrician where one is needed and confirm that the supply line is rated for the appliance load. Getting this right ahead of delivery day avoids the disappointment of a delivered appliance that cannot be commissioned.
On the Day
We arrive with the materials and tools needed to complete the connection, isolate the gas supply, run any new pipework required, fit the appliance per the manufacturer’s instructions, and pressure-test the system. Once tested, we commission the appliance, check it operates correctly across its full range, and walk you through the basic controls and any maintenance items the manufacturer recommends. We tidy up packaging and dispose of the old appliance if you have asked us to.
Warranty Protection
Manufacturers require their appliances to be installed by a licensed gas fitter for the warranty to remain valid. We complete and lodge the appropriate Type A compliance certificate, supply you with a copy, and provide an itemised invoice that satisfies most warranty registration processes.

On-Site Quote — We arrive within 24 hours, measure the install location, check gas line capacity, and email you a fixed written quote the same day.
Order & Book — We order your unit and book the install, usually within 48 hours of quote approval. Most Blackburn jobs are completed the same week.
Install Day — Most Blackburn installs take 2 to 4 hours. We commission the system, walk you through the controls, and lodge the Certificate of Compliance with the VBA within 48 hours.
